About My Family

There are 5+1 people in my family. My parents, me, and my 2 younger sisters Wen & Min. This is our nuclear family. My Ah Yee is the +1. She stays with us and has been taking care of us ever since.

Daddy

My dad is someone I admire most. I admire his integrity, his calmness in handling situations and he also has a very good temper. I seldom hear him raise his voice, nor shout at someone. My dad loves children and dogs. He gets along very well with them. All through the years, my dad looks the same all the photos we took (except for his thinning hair *grins*) – his wide smile, he thin and small stature. Nowadays he has a growing belly which I think is understandable for a man above 50, isn’t it so? He still plays the badminton and table tennis every week. His love for golf just started last year and he is beginning to love it (to the horror of my mum). Haha. And oohh, did I tell you he loves ice-creams and chocolates?

Mummy

Mummy

My mum is just a year younger than my dad. But you wouldn’t believe it if I don’t tell it to you. She looks easily 5 years younger. My mum is always talking. (I guess that is why I am quite talkative!)She is someone who knows how to conjure up a conversation when the situation grows awkward. Haha. My mum’s cooking has improved tremendously over the years. I still remember she doesn’t even know how to cook red beans with eggs when I was im Primary school. Now, she cooks up very delicious meals all the time. But don’t you make her angry…she will screams and nags at you non-stop. But I know she does it out of love. She loves my dad and us to bits. But another thing she loves a lot is mangoes!

Shu-Wen

Shu-Wen

By year, Wen is 2 years younger than me. Meaning when I was in Form 3, she was in Form 1. But in actual, we are 2 years and 11 mths apart. This is because my birthday is in January while hers is in December. We were very, very close when we were young. We played all sorts of games (my creation of coz!). We played teacher-student, doctor-patient, etc etc. We also used to fight a lot, with her eyes ‘juling-ing’ me and mine ‘juling-ing’ her. But we never hit each other. I guess this is the good part of having girls. We don’t use our hands! She is now working in KL and I am in Penang. I miss her sometimes. But I am still happy I’ve got a place to stay when I go down to KL :)

Shu-Min

Shu-Min

I was not so close to Min when I was younger. Maybe because she is 7 years younger than me. I was already playing ‘kali-toi’ when she was still playing with Barbie dolls. But we got very close now that she is older. She is fast friend with Peter and she comes to our house very frequent to ’steal’ our Twisties, Yakult, M&Ms, and any other junk food she can find! Haha. She is also my constant companion nowadays when Peter is not around. We both has the same taste in movies and also in clothing, though she sometimes complains I have ‘lau-ee’s taste. She is a clever girl with straight 9A1s in SPM (but she never studies…shhhh). She is now doing ACCA in Disted.

Ah Yee

Ah Yee

Ah Yee is my mum’s younger sis. She took care of Min and me when we were small. She is a really nice aunty because she spoiled us to bits. She always does things for us without complaining and we always ‘bully’ her because she is just too nice! Oh ya, she likes reading chinese novels and she can read them the whole day, anywhere and anytime. She loves pasta and cheese as far as I know.

  1. Hello,
My name is Shu Yin Lui-Morgan. My married name is Morgan. I just happenend to come upon your webpage just this morning. It is very interesting. I am still intrigued by it.
I reside in Jamaica – on the western side of the world. You may be wondering how I have this name. Well myself and my sisters (2 like you and both younger than I) got Chinese names from my father who is from Singapore but has been in Jamaica for over 45 years.
Can you e-mail me so we can rap more…

    Shu Yin
